The Moon Cactus is a colorful addition to any collection, featuring a vibrant, spherical top (scion) in bright shades of red, orange, pink, or yellow, perched on a green cactus base (rootstock). The vibrant top is typically a species of Gymnocalycium mihanovichii that lacks chlorophyll, giving it its brilliant hues but preventing it from producing its own food through photosynthesis.
To thrive, the colorful scion is grafted onto a hardy green cactus rootstock, such as Hylocereus, which provides the nutrients and support the scion needs to grow. This symbiotic relationship makes the Moon Cactus a fascinating example of plant grafting and a conversation-worthy addition to any space.

Light Requirements:
