Acanthocereus tetragonus
Common Name: Fairy Castle Cactus

Acanthocereus tetragonus, affectionately known as the Fairy Castle Cactus, is a whimsical, slow-growing cactus that forms branching columns resembling tiny castle turrets—hence the name. Its green, angular stems grow upright with multiple offsets that stack and spread over time, creating a playful, architectural form that looks straight out of a storybook.

Popular among beginner growers and collectors alike, this low-maintenance cactus is perfect for windowsills, sunny patios, and fairy garden-inspired containers. Mature plants may even surprise you with creamy white night-blooming flowers, though blooming is rare in container culture.

☀ Light Requirements
Thrives in bright, direct light to full sun. Indoors, place in your sunniest window. Outdoors, it prefers full morning sun and protection from harsh afternoon rays in hot climates.

💧 Watering Needs
Water thoroughly only when the soil is completely dry. Like most columnar cacti, this one is extremely drought-tolerant and sensitive to overwatering. Cut back watering in cooler months.

🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Hardy to about 30–35°F in dry conditions. Protect from frost. For colder climates or winter orders, we recommend adding a [Heat Pack].

✨ Special Features
Castle-Like Growth – Upright arms branch and cluster to form a turreted silhouette
Beginner-Friendly – Tough, drought-resistant, and easy to care for
Great for Gifting – Its charming shape and name make it a hit with all ages

Other Common Names:
Fairy Castle, Night-Blooming Cereus (misapplied), Triangle Cactus
