Euphorbia trigona (Green Form)
Common Name: African Milk Tree
Euphorbia trigona (Green) is a bold, fast-growing succulent shrub known for its upright, candelabra-like structure and vivid green, triangular stems. Native to Central Africa, this architectural plant is a favorite for both indoor and outdoor growers due to its low-maintenance nature, symmetrical form, and strong vertical presence.
Each tall stem is lined with short, paired spines and small, teardrop-shaped green leaves that emerge from the ridges. Though often mistaken for a cactus, this species is technically a euphorbia and exudes a milky white sap when cut.
☀ Light Requirements
Prefers bright, indirect light or filtered sun. Outdoors, it thrives in partial to full sun with proper acclimation. Indoors, place near a sunny window to maintain upright growth and leaf production.
💧 Watering Needs
Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Euphorbia trigona is highly drought-tolerant and dislikes sitting in wet soil. Reduce watering in cooler months.
🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Protect from frost. Best kept above 40°F. For cold zones or winter shipping, a [Heat Pack] is strongly recommended.
⚠ CAUTION:
Like all euphorbias, this plant contains a toxic sap that can irritate skin and eyes. Handle with care and keep away from pets and small children.
