Myrtillocactus geometrizans
Common Name: Blue Candle Cactus

Myrtillocactus geometrizans, commonly known as the Blue Candle, is a fast-growing, columnar cactus prized for its powdery blue skin and elegant, branching growth. Native to central and northern Mexico, this striking species can form a sculptural, tree-like shape over time, making it a favorite for landscape accents, large containers, or as hardy grafting stock for rare cactus forms.

The blue coloration intensifies with age and sun exposure, and mature plants may produce clusters of small greenish flowers followed by edible, dark purple fruits resembling tiny blueberries—hence the genus name Myrtillocactus (“myrtle cactus”).

☀ Light Requirements
Thrives in full sun. Outdoors, give it strong, direct light for best color and form. Indoors, place near a very bright window or under supplemental grow lights to encourage upward growth.

💧 Watering Needs
Water deeply when soil is fully dry. This species is drought-tolerant and prefers lean, well-draining soil. Reduce watering in winter or during periods of dormancy.

🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Hardy to about 25–30°F in dry conditions. Protect from frost and freezing wet soil. For cold climates or winter shipping, consider adding a [Heat Pack].
