Agave tequilana
Common Name: Blue Tequila Agave

Agave tequilana, commonly known as the Blue Tequila Agave, is a striking and fast-growing agave with bold architectural form and cultural significance—it’s the very species used to make genuine blue agave tequila. Native to Mexico, this agave forms large rosettes of blue-gray leaves edged with small teeth and tipped with a sharp spine.

With its symmetrical shape and powdery blue hue, it makes a stunning statement in xeriscapes, rock gardens, or large containers. Given space, it can reach 4 to 6 feet tall and wide and eventually produces a towering bloom stalk before completing its life cycle.

☀ Light Requirements
Thrives in full sun to bright light. Outdoors, plant in a sunny, open space. Indoors, give it the brightest possible spot—preferably a south-facing window or under strong grow lights.

💧 Watering Needs
Water deeply but infrequently. Allow soil to dry completely between waterings. Very drought-tolerant once established. Water even less during winter months.

🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Cold-hardy down to about 25°F in dry conditions. Protect from hard frost, especially in containers. Add a [Heat Pack] if ordering during cold weather.

✨ Special Features
True Tequila Agave – This is the real deal used in blue agave tequila production
