Dyckia platyphylla x 'Carlsbad'
Common Name: Cherry Coke Dyckia
Dyckia 'Cherry Coke' (platyphylla x Carlsbad) is a stunning hybrid bromeliad known for its deep burgundy to near-black foliage, edged with dramatic silver teeth. A favorite among collectors, this cultivar gets its nickname from the rich, glossy coloration reminiscent of a chilled glass of cherry cola—especially when grown in bright light.
With stiff, spiny, heavily toothed leaves arranged in a symmetrical rosette, this Dyckia makes a bold statement in any arid garden, container, or rockery. While technically a bromeliad, Dyckias behave more like succulents, thriving in full sun and requiring very little water.
☀ Light Requirements
Thrives in full sun to bright filtered light. Strong light enhances the rich coloration and tight rosette form.
💧 Watering Needs
Water only when the soil is fully dry. Dyckias are drought-tolerant but will appreciate occasional deep waterings during the growing season. Ensure excellent drainage.
🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Cold-hardy down to about 20–25°F in dry conditions. For winter orders or cold climates, consider adding a [Heat Pack].

• Dark, Glossy Foliage – Deep cherry-burgundy tones that intensify in sun
