Espostoa lanata
Common Name: Peruvian Old Man Cactus

Espostoa lanata is a columnar cactus native to Ecuador and Peru, easily recognized by the dense white wool that covers its ribbed stems and partially conceals the spines beneath. Although commonly sold as a small single column, mature plants can branch and eventually reach around 20 feet tall in habitat. Older stems develop a distinctive lateral cephalium from which nocturnal flowers emerge.
