Euphorbia Tortilis
Description
Euphorbia tortilis is a striking succulent with an intricate growth habit, featuring twisting, tortuous stems that give it its name. This unique Euphorbia makes a bold statement in any collection, combining architectural elegance with low-maintenance care. Its deep green stems are occasionally adorned with small, paired spines. Euphorbia Tortilis thrives in both container gardens and landscape settings, making it a versatile choice for enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Growth Habit
- Size: Grows up to 3–5 feet tall and 2–3 feet wide in optimal conditions.
- Structure: Twisted stems create a sculptural appearance, perfect as a focal point or accent plant.
Light Requirements
- Preferred Light: Full sun to partial shade. Ensure it receives at least 4–6 hours of bright, direct light daily.
- Indoor Care: Place near a sunny window or under grow lights for best results.
Watering
- Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Euphorbia Tortilis is drought-tolerant and sensitive to overwatering.
- Reduce watering during the winter dormancy period.
Temperature Tolerance
- Hardy to temperatures as low as 40°F (4°C). Protect from frost and prolonged cold exposure.
- If temperatures are going to be lower than this in your area, we highly recommend adding a [Heat Pack] to your order.
Care Tips
- Euphorbia tortilis exudes a milky sap when cut or damaged, which can be an irritant. Handle with care and wear gloves when pruning or repotting.
- Avoid direct contact with eyes or skin, and wash hands thoroughly after handling.
