Opuntia 'Sunburst' (Pads Only)
Common Name: Sunburst Prickly Pear

Opuntia 'Sunburst' is a rare and eye-catching variegated prickly pear cactus known for its striking marbled pads that blend soft green, creamy yellow, and occasional pink blush tones. The pads grow in a classic stacked form and can create a dazzling, sun-kissed effect—hence the name Sunburst. This listing is for individual unrooted pads, perfect for propagation or adding to your rare Opuntia collection.

Each pad has minimal glochids and small, scattered spines, making it more manageable than many other prickly pears. Given bright sun and well-drained soil, it roots easily and begins to grow into a gorgeous, sculptural clump.

☀ Light Requirements
Loves full sun. Bright light enhances the variegation and encourages upright, compact growth.

💧 Watering Needs
Allow pads to callous for several days before planting. Once planted, water sparingly until roots form. Mature plants need water only when the soil is completely dry.

🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Cold-hardy to around 20–25°F once established in dry conditions. Add a [Heat Pack] for winter shipping or cold zones.

✨ Special Features
Bright Variegation – Creamy-yellow and green marbled pads with occasional pink blush
Easy to Propagate – Each pad can become a new plant
Low Spine Count – More user-friendly than many Opuntias

Other Common Names:
Sunburst Prickly Pear, Variegated Opuntia Pad

This cactus will ship bare root and will be ready to place directly in a well draining soil mix like our Custom Cactus Mix.

Photos in the listings unless otherwise specified are representative of the plant that will be sent to you.
However, Plants grow differently and each plant may vary slightly in shape, size, growth pattern, etc.
Of course, if you receive a plant that you are dissatisfied with please reach out to us. We want to make it right!

If temperatures near you are below 45℉ we highly recommend adding a Heat Pack to your order.
If temperatures where you live will be much lower than 20℉ even heat packs may not work. You may consider waiting until things warm up a bit. We know you love your plants just like we do and we wouldn't want any of them to freeze.
