Astrophytum asterias 'Super Kabuto'
Common Name: Super Kabuto Sand Dollar Cactus
Astrophytum asterias 'Super Kabuto' is a jaw-dropping cultivar of the classic Sand Dollar Cactus, renowned for its bold, high-contrast patterning and near-perfect symmetry. This collector’s dream features dense clusters of white trichomes (fuzzy star-like specks) scattered across its smooth, spineless body—often forming intricate, galaxy-like patterns that vary from plant to plant.
Its flat, rounded form typically displays 8 ribs with woolly areoles and no spines, making it one of the most elegant and handle-friendly cacti around. In spring or early summer, Super Kabuto produces stunning yellow flowers with orange centers right at the crown.
☀ Light Requirements
Prefers bright, indirect light or filtered sun. Outdoors, morning sun and afternoon shade is ideal. Indoors, place near a bright window with good airflow. Too much direct sun can fade the trichomes or cause stress.
💧 Watering Needs
Water only when the soil is fully dry. Super Kabuto is particularly sensitive to overwatering and needs excellent drainage. Water sparingly in cooler seasons or dormancy.
🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Best kept above 45°F. Not frost-tolerant. For cold zones or winter shipping, we recommend adding a [Heat Pack].

If temperatures near you are below 45℉ we highly recommend adding a Heat Pack to your order.
If temperatures where you live will be much lower than 20℉ even heat packs may not work. You may consider waiting until things warm up a bit. We know you love your plants just like we do and we wouldn't want any of them to freeze.
