Astrophytum capricorne var. minor
Common Name: Miniature Goat’s Horn Cactus
Astrophytum capricorne var. minor is a charming, small-growing variety of the classic Goat’s Horn Cactus. This miniature form keeps the same ribbed, globular body and fine white flecking of the standard capricorne, but stays smaller, more compact, and develops shorter, finer spines. Its star-shaped body is dusted with a galaxy of white trichomes, giving it a frosted, speckled appearance that intensifies in bright light.
Native to Mexico, A. capricorne var. minor is a slow grower but highly rewarding. In summer, mature plants produce large, lemon-yellow blooms with deep red centers that rise beautifully from the crown—often larger than the plant itself!
☀ Light Requirements
Loves bright, indirect sunlight to full sun. Outdoors, give it plenty of light with good airflow. Indoors, a sunny windowsill or grow light setup will keep it compact and colorful.
💧 Watering Needs
Water deeply only when the soil is completely dry. Like all Astrophytums, it prefers excellent drainage and a dry rest period in winter. Avoid watering into the crown.
🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Hardy to around 25–30°F in dry conditions. Protect from frost and wet cold. For winter orders or cold climates, we recommend adding a [Heat Pack].
✨ Special Features
• Miniature Form – Stays smaller and tighter than standard capricorne
• Curved Horn-Like Spines – Shorter but still full of character
• Star-Like Body – Speckled, symmetrical, and crowned with oversized yellow blooms
Other Common Names:
Miniature Goat’s Horn Cactus, Star Cactus, Dwarf Capricorne

If temperatures near you are below 45℉ we highly recommend adding a Heat Pack to your order.
If temperatures where you live will be much lower than 20℉ even heat packs may not work. You may consider waiting until things warm up a bit. We know you love your plants just like we do and we wouldn't want any of them to freeze.
