These Astrophytum are all 4 RIBBED or 4 SIDED which is more rare in the species.
Astrophytum myriostigma, also known as the Bishop’s Cap, is a spineless, sculptural cactus beloved for its clean geometry and speckled, chalk-dusted appearance. This species typically has five sharply defined ribs (though 3–8 is possible), and its round, star-like shape gives it a minimalist, almost mathematical elegance.
Covered in a fine layer of white trichomes (tiny hairs), the surface appears frosty or speckled, especially under bright light. Native to the highlands of northeastern Mexico, A. myriostigma is drought-tolerant, slow-growing, and ideal for collectors who appreciate architectural form and simplicity.
☀ Light Requirements
Prefers bright, indirect light to full sun. More light = more trichome coverage and compact growth. Indoors, place near a sunny window. Outdoors, protect from scorching afternoon sun in very hot climates.
💧 Watering Needs
Water deeply but infrequently. Let soil dry out completely between waterings. During winter dormancy, water sparingly or not at all.
🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Cold-hardy to around 25–30°F in dry conditions. Protect from frost if the soil is wet or temperatures dip for extended periods. Add a [Heat Pack] for cold-weather shipping.
✨ Special Features
• Geometric Form – Star-shaped body with clean rib structure
• Frosted Appearance – Covered in white trichomes for a speckled, matte finish
