Decarya madagascariensis is an incredibly rare, architectural succulent tree that instantly captivates onlookers with its highly unusual growth pattern. Its corky, metallic-gray branches grow in a sharp, distinct zig-zag formation, branching out to create a tangled, sculptural thicket. Native to the unique spiny forests of Madagascar, this highly sought-after botanical oddity produces tiny, inconspicuous leaves at each bend, along with pairs of short, fierce thorns that emphasize its rugged, desert lineage.

☀ Light Requirements
Thrives in bright, indirect light to full sun. Indoors, place it in your brightest window. Outdoors, it loves full morning sun and appreciates slightly filtered afternoon light to protect its young growth.

💧 Watering Needs
Water thoroughly only when the soil has dried out completely. This resilient succulent is well-adapted to drought but appreciates regular water during the warm summer growing season. Reduce watering significantly in winter when it drops its leaves for dormancy.

🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Best kept in warm environments above 50–55°F. It is highly sensitive to cold temperatures and frost, meaning it must be brought indoors well before winter weather arrives. For winter orders, we recommend adding a Heat Pack.
