Discocactus araneispinus
Common Name: Spider Spine Discocactus

Discocactus araneispinus is a rare and fascinating species in the Discocactus genus, prized for its flattened, disc-shaped body and fine, web-like spination that gives it a soft, ethereal appearance. Native to Brazil, this species stays compact and globular, developing a cephalium (a woolly flowering structure) at maturity, from which fragrant white flowers bloom—usually at night.

This cactus is not just a visual standout but a true collector’s gem due to its slow growth, sensitivity to overwatering, and highly specific care requirements. When grown well, it rewards patience with stunning form and a sweetly scented floral display.

☀ Light Requirements
Prefers bright, indirect light or gentle morning sun. Avoid harsh afternoon rays, which can cause scorching. Ideal for filtered greenhouse light or bright indoor setups.

💧 Watering Needs
Water sparingly, only when the soil is fully dry. Sensitive to overwatering—especially in cooler weather. Ensure excellent drainage and reduce watering significantly in winter.

🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Best kept above 50°F. Very sensitive to cold and excess moisture. For cold zones or winter shipping, always include a [Heat Pack].

✨ Special Features
Unique Webbed Spines – Fine white spines resemble a spider’s web
Fragrant Night Blooms – White flowers from the cephalium emit a sweet scent
Highly Collectible – A must-have for rare cactus lovers and advanced growers
