Euphorbia decaryi var. decaryi
Common Name: Decary’s Euphorbia
Euphorbia decaryi var. decaryi is a rare, low-growing Madagascan succulent known for its twisted, reptilian stems and beautifully crinkled leaves. This form hugs the ground with a creeping habit, slowly spreading to form an intricate mat of textured foliage. The dark green to reddish-bronze leaves are deeply veined and wavy-edged, giving it an exotic, almost prehistoric look.
Unlike many Euphorbias, this one is grown just as much for its foliage as for its structure. In the warmer months, it produces small yellow-green flowers that add even more character to this already fascinating plant.
☀ Light Requirements
Prefers bright, indirect light or filtered sun. Can tolerate some morning sun, but protect from intense afternoon rays to prevent leaf burn.
💧 Watering Needs
Water when the soil is fully dry. This species prefers more frequent water during its active growing season (spring–fall), but still demands excellent drainage. Reduce watering in winter.
🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Best kept above 45°F. Not frost-tolerant. For colder climates or winter shipments, consider adding a [Heat Pack].
⚠ Note:
Like all Euphorbias, this plant exudes a milky latex sap when cut. It can be irritating to skin and toxic if ingested. Handle with care and keep away from pets and children.
