Euphorbia horida
Common Name: African Milk Barrel

Euphorbia horida, often called the African Milk Barrel, is a rugged and highly sculptural succulent native to South Africa. Resembling a cactus at first glance, this Euphorbia features barrel-shaped, heavily ribbed stems covered in spiny ridges and sharp, tooth-like projections. The coloration ranges from blue-green to grayish-green, often with striking purplish or reddish tones under sun stress.

Its fierce appearance is softened by the occasional flush of small, yellow-green cyathia (Euphorbia flowers) during the growing season. This species can stay solitary or form clumps of multiple stems over time, making it a bold statement plant for containers or xeric landscapes.

☀ Light Requirements
Thrives in bright, indirect light or full sun. Outdoors, it appreciates morning or filtered sun with some protection from harsh afternoon rays. Indoors, place near a south- or west-facing window.

💧 Watering Needs
Water only when the soil is completely dry. Euphorbia horida is extremely drought-tolerant and prefers neglect over overwatering. Cut watering back significantly in cooler months.

🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Protect from frost—best kept above 40°F. In colder climates or during winter shipping, add a [Heat Pack].

✨ Special Features
Cactus-Like Form – Deep ribs, spiny edges, and sculptural presence
