Mammillaria bocasana 'Fred'
Common Name: Fred Cactus

Mammillaria bocasana 'Fred' is a bizarre and beloved monstrose form of the classic Powder Puff Cactus. Unlike its parent, 'Fred' grows in strange, lumpy, almost alien shapes—sometimes forming brain-like folds, blobs, or twisted fans. Covered in soft, hair-like spines and fine wool, this cactus has a fuzzy, whimsical look that makes it a favorite among collectors of the weird and wonderful.

No two specimens of 'Fred' are exactly alike, and part of its charm is how unpredictable its growth can be. Over time, it may form clusters of odd, sculptural lumps that seem to defy typical cactus symmetry.

☀ Light Requirements
Prefers bright, indirect light to full sun. Outdoors, give it morning sun and afternoon shade. Indoors, keep in a bright window with plenty of airflow to prevent rot.

💧 Watering Needs
Water when the soil is completely dry. Like all Mammillaria, 'Fred' is drought-tolerant but sensitive to overwatering. Reduce watering in winter.

🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Hardy to around 25–30°F in dry conditions. Protect from frost and prolonged cold. For cold climates or winter shipping, consider adding a [Heat Pack].
