Euphorbia mayurnathanii
Common Name: Mayurnath’s Spurge
Description:
The Euphorbia mayurnathanii is a captivating succulent species characterized by its thick, ridged stems and distinctive spiny appearance. Native to India, this plant is a unique addition to any collection, combining the rugged charm of a cactus-like structure with the subtle elegance of its deep green coloration. It can develop small, colorful flowers (cyathia) during its growing season, adding a delightful pop of color to its bold silhouette.
Typically growing to a height of 1-3 feet, Euphorbia mayurnathanii is an excellent choice for container gardening, xeriscaping, or as a standalone feature plant.
Light Requirements:
Prefers bright, indirect sunlight but can tolerate full sun. Protect from harsh afternoon sun in very hot climates to prevent sunburn.
Watering Needs:
Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Like most euphorbias, Euphorbia mayurnathanii is drought-tolerant and thrives on infrequent, deep watering. Reduce watering during the winter dormancy period.
Temperature Tolerance:
Hardy down to 35°F. Protect from prolonged frost or freezing conditions by moving indoors or covering during colder months. If temperatures are going to be lower than this in your area, we highly recommend adding a Heat Pack to your order.
Special Features:
- Unique Structure: Its spiny ridges and textured stems make it a striking conversation piece.
- Low Maintenance: Ideal for beginners or those looking for a hardy, drought-tolerant addition.
- Compact Size: Great for small gardens, containers, or indoor spaces with bright light.
This cactus will ship bare root and will be ready to place directly in a well draining soil mix like our Custom Cactus Mix.
