Euphorbia xylophylloides
Common Name: Paddle Leaf Euphorbia

Euphorbia xylophylloides is a rare and unusual succulent shrub native to Madagascar, prized for its distinctive flattened, paddle-like stems that mimic broad leaves. These flattened branches—technically phylloclades—are arranged alternately along upright stems, giving the plant a sculptural, architectural look. It’s a fantastic choice for collectors of oddities and botanical curiosities.

While it may appear leafed-out, these "leaves" are actually modified stems, helping reduce water loss in its native arid environment. In bright light, the stems may take on reddish or purplish highlights, adding even more contrast and intrigue to its form.

☀ Light Requirements
Prefers bright, indirect light to filtered sun. Can tolerate some direct sun with acclimation, which enhances coloration.

💧 Watering Needs
Water only when the soil is fully dry. Euphorbia xylophylloides is drought-tolerant and sensitive to overwatering—err on the side of less.

🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Best kept above 50°F. Not frost-hardy. Bring indoors or protect in cooler months. For winter shipping, consider adding a [Heat Pack].

⚠ CAUTION:
Like most euphorbias, it produces milky sap when cut or damaged that can irritate skin and eyes. Use gloves and handle with care.
