Mammillaria elongata
Common Name: Lady Fingers
Mammillaria elongata, affectionately known as Lady Fingers, is a classic and easy-to-grow cactus adored for its slender, finger-like stems that cluster into beautiful, tangled mounds over time. Native to central Mexico, this species features spirals of golden, copper, or white spines that give it a soft glow—especially when grown in bright light.
It’s a reliable bloomer, often producing tiny, pale yellow to light pink flowers that pop up in rings around the tips of the stems, giving it a dainty and elegant touch. With its forgiving nature and charming form, Lady Fingers is a perfect choice for beginners and collectors alike.
☀ Light Requirements
Loves bright, indirect sun to full sun. Outdoors, provide several hours of morning sun. Indoors, place near a sunny window or under grow lights to maintain compact growth and rich spine color.
💧 Watering Needs
Water thoroughly only when the soil has completely dried out. Overwatering can cause rot, especially in cooler months. Cut back watering during winter dormancy.
🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Cold-hardy to about 25°F in dry conditions. Protect from freezing if wet or prolonged. Add a [Heat Pack] for winter orders if temps are low in your area.
