Melocactus Concinnus
Common Name: Turk’s Cap Cactus

Melocactus concinnus is a rare and elegant Brazilian native, beloved for its sculptural form and signature cephalium—a woolly, reddish crown that emerges once the plant reaches maturity. With its smooth, dark green body and neatly defined ribs lined with fine radial and central spines, this cactus brings a refined beauty to any succulent or cactus collection.

As it matures, it forms a striking contrast between the smooth body and its wool-covered cephalium, from which bright pink flowers emerge in a showy crown-like display. Its name, concinnus, means “well-arranged” or “elegant,” and one glance at this specimen makes it clear why.

☀ Light Requirements
Thrives in full sun to bright, indirect light. Outdoors, it loves a sunny patio or rock garden. Indoors, provide as much light as possible near a bright window.

💧 Watering Needs
Water deeply but infrequently. Allow soil to dry completely between waterings. Like all Melocactus species, avoid watering the cephalium and reduce watering significantly in cooler months.

🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Sensitive to cold—keep above 50°F whenever possible. Not frost-tolerant. For winter shipments or cooler climates, consider adding a [Heat Pack] to your order.

✨ Special Features
Cephalium Formation – A signature feature of mature Melocactus, producing a woolly cap with pink flowers.
Elegant Shape – Smooth, symmetric ribs and subtle spine pattern make it a collector’s favorite.
True Collector’s Cactus – Sought-after due to its beauty and slower growth habit.

Other Common Names:
