Opuntia dillenii (Pads Only)
Common Name: Prickly Pear, Wild Nopal, Devil’s-Tongue

Opuntia dillenii is a vigorous and boldly spined prickly pear cactus known for its vibrant green pads and intense defense system—covered in clusters of sharp yellow spines and tiny glochids. This species is native to the Caribbean and parts of Central and South America and thrives in hot, dry climates where it quickly forms dense, shrubby colonies.

This listing is for unrooted pads, ideal for propagation. Once established, it can produce bright yellow flowers followed by purple-red fruit that is sometimes edible when prepared carefully. Its tough nature and striking appearance make it an excellent choice for xeriscaping, natural fencing, or collectors looking for a hardy classic.

☀ Light Requirements
Loves full sun. The more sun it gets, the more compact and spiny it becomes.

💧 Watering Needs
Let pads callous over for 4–7 days before planting. Once in soil, water sparingly until roots form. After rooting, water only when the soil is completely dry.

🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Tolerant of heat and drought. Hardy to about 25–30°F when mature and dry. Add a [Heat Pack] for safe winter shipping if needed.

✨ Special Features
Bright Yellow Blooms – Followed by striking purple fruit
