Parodia magnifica
Common Name: Balloon Cactus
Parodia magnifica, the Balloon Cactus, is a beautifully symmetrical species native to southern Brazil. Known for its soft blue-green body and pronounced vertical ribs, this cactus forms a tidy, globe-shaped silhouette with fine yellow spines that are more decorative than dangerous. Over time, it slowly grows into a slightly elongated column, often forming clumps as it matures.
In summer, P. magnifica produces bright yellow flowers from the crown, adding a cheerful contrast to its cool-toned body. Its combination of soft color, gentle spines, and architectural shape makes it a favorite among collectors and beginners alike.
☀ Light Requirements
Thrives in bright, indirect light to full sun. Outdoors, give it strong morning light and afternoon shade. Indoors, place in a sunny window to maintain its compact shape and vibrant spine color.
💧 Watering Needs
Water thoroughly only when the soil is completely dry. During the growing season (spring to fall), water more regularly, but always allow for excellent drainage. Cut back significantly in winter.
🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Hardy down to about 25–30°F in dry conditions. Protect from frost and excess moisture during cold spells. For winter shipping, consider adding a [Heat Pack].

• Balloon-Like Shape – Round and ribbed with excellent symmetry
