Rebutia Krainziana
Common Name: Scarlet Ball Cactus
Description:
The Rebutia krainziana is a charming, compact cactus known for its vibrant, scarlet-red flowers that bloom profusely during the growing season. This small, globular cactus is native to Bolivia and features a dense covering of short, white spines that contrast beautifully with its green body and bright blossoms. Its clumping habit makes it an excellent choice for containers, rock gardens, or as a showpiece in any cactus collection.
Growing to a height of just 2-3 inches, Rebutia krainziana forms small, tightly packed offsets over time, creating an attractive cluster of globes adorned with eye-catching flowers.
Light Requirements:
Prefers bright, indirect sunlight but can tolerate full sun. Protect from harsh afternoon light in hotter climates to prevent scorching.
Watering Needs:
Water thoroughly during the active growing season (spring and summer), allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Reduce watering significantly during the winter dormant period.
Temperature Tolerance:
Hardy down to 25°F with proper acclimation. Protect from frost or freezing by moving indoors or covering in colder months. If temperatures are going to be lower than this in your area, we highly recommend adding a Heat Pack to your order.
Special Features:
- Bright Blooms: Stunning, scarlet-red flowers create a vivid display during the growing season.
- Compact Growth: Perfect for small spaces or container gardening.
- Clustering Habit: Produces offsets to form attractive clusters over time.
This cactus will ship bare root and will be ready to place directly in a well draining soil mix like our Custom Cactus Mix.
