Stenocereus pruinosus
Common Name: Gray Ghost Cactus
Stenocereus pruinosus is a bold and beautiful columnar cactus native to central Mexico, where it’s valued not just for its striking appearance but also for its delicious edible fruit, locally known as pitaya de octubre. Its tall, upright stems are a soft bluish-gray (pruinose) color with distinct vertical ribs and evenly spaced clusters of short spines—giving it a clean, architectural look that makes it a standout in any collection or landscape.
In the right conditions, mature plants produce large, night-blooming white flowers, followed by round, red, sweet-tart fruits. It’s fast-growing, easy to care for, and an excellent choice for collectors or gardeners looking to add height and interest.
☀ Light Requirements
Prefers full sun. Outdoors, plant in an open, sunny area. Indoors, place in the brightest spot available or provide supplemental grow lighting to encourage strong growth.

🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Hardy to about 25°F in dry conditions. Protect from frost if wet or during prolonged cold spells. For winter orders or cold zones, add a [Heat Pack].
